What is Relevant Text?
rel·e·vant
(rěl’ə-vənt) Pronunciation Key
adj. Having a bearing on or connection with the matter at hand.
Relevance is key in search optimization. Content, keywords, links in, whatever you do related to your site wants to be relevant to the topic. Easy enough.
I’m currently heading a small in-house SEO team for a large UK-based corporation with a number of highly visible sites in our market. We have a dedicated SEM/PPC team; my focus is on organic search results and on-site optimization.
There are advantages and disadvantages to the corporate support and technology structure – particularly when it comes to being nimble and responsive to changes in the market. A lot of what the crap you’ll find in the forums about doing SEO is about making AdSense cash with a blog, and it simply doesn’t apply. Or does it? How can the tips and tricks that work for a small business site apply to a large corporate property? What is different?
I hope to be documenting my explorations into these and other questions here, providing relevant information and opinion on the world of organic search marketing. Comments and participation are completely welcome. I don’t claim to know it all, and in fact will probably throw out totally some crap opinions now and then – sometimes on purpose to generate some discussion.
